Last week I got my membership in thegerman youthpress organisation confirmed. So cool! Next week I hope to get my presscard. Also I've had my first two publications for four years. I'm back in the writing-business now again! That feels so cool!

Gaza War

Hi guys. Nowone year ago there was the Gaza-War between IDF and Hamas. I wrote a german article about it. Some may understand it, others not. I am sorry for that, but I don't have the time to translate it. In fact it is a short summary of what was going on at that time. So here we go:

Gaza-Krieg 08/09

Ende Dezember letzten Jahres begann die israelische Luftwaffe Ziele im Gazastreifen, vorwiegend Waffen- und Ausbildungslager sowie Raketenproduktionsstätten der Hamas, zu bombardieren. Grund war der Anhaltende Beschuss israelischer Städte durch die Hamas. Ziel war die Zerstörung von Hamas-Infrastruktur und die Änderung der politischen Verhältnisse im Gazastreifen. Während der Offensive kam es auf palästinensischer Seite zu ca. 1300 Toten, darunter 300-900 Zivilisten und tausenden Verletzten. Israel hatte dagegen 13 Tote und dutzende Verwundete zu beklagen.
Unter ägyptischer Vermittlung war ein halbes Jahr zuvor ein Waffenstillstand zwischen Israel und der Hamas ausgehandelt worden, der ab Juni 2008 für sechs Monate gelten sollte. Raketenangriffe der Hamas gingen dadurch deutlich zurück, hörten allerdings nie vollständig auf. Israel reagierte darauf mit vereinzelten Vergeltungsschlägen, die die Hamas zum Anlass nahm, im Dezember die ohnehin auslaufende Waffenstillstandsvereinbarung aufkündigen. Der massive Beschuss israelischer Städte mit Quassam- und Katjuscharaketen begann danach aus Neue.
Daraufhin wurde begonnen, die bereits seit langem aufgrund der Instabilität des Waffenstillstandes geplante Militäroffensive Gegossenes Blei umzusetzen. Der Auslandsnachrichtendienst Israels, Mossad, hatte die Zeit genutzt um Informationen zur Lage von Waffen- und Ausbildungslagern der Hamas in Erfahrung zu bringen.
Die Operation begann am 27. Dezember 2008 um 11:30 Uhr Ortszeit. Sie bestand aus drei Phasen. Während der Ersten wurden Ziele im Gazastreifen bombardiert und die Infrastruktur der Hamas soweit geschädigt, dass Phase zwei, in der Panzer gezielt vorstießen und den Streifen in zwei Teile teilten anlaufen konnte. Die dritte und letzte Phase bestand in der Besetzung des Gazastreifens durch einen Häuserkampf, der auf israelischer Seite weniger Opfer forderte als angenommen worden war. Am 18. Januar verkündete Israel einen einseitigen Waffenstillstand. Die Hamas schoss ungeachtet dessen weiterhin Raketen, allerdings in geringeren Maßstäben, ab.
Die Reaktionen auf die Offensive Israels waren überwiegend kritisch und beschäftigten sich vor allem mit der schlechten humanitären Lage im Gazastreifen, sowie umstrittenen Aktionen der israelischen Streitkräfte wie den Beschuss von UN-Schulen, der damit begründet wurde, Hamas-Kämpfer hätten von dort aus Raketen abgefeuert. Die EU forderte die Einstellung der Kampfhandlungen und die UNO verabschiedete eine Resolution zur Beendigung der Kampfhandlungen, die aber sowohl von Israel als auch der Hamas ignoriert wurde. Die USA verhielten sich neutral und enthielten sich bei der Verabschiedung der UN-Resolution der Stimme.
Das Ergebnis der Offensive war ein ramponiertes internationales Image Israels. Doch hatte auch die Hamas in der Bevölkerung der Gazastreifens stark an Popularität verloren und war militärisch und infrastrukturell stark getroffen. Israel hatte damit sein Ziel die Hamas zu schwächen und den Raketenbeschuss zu unterbinden größtenteils erreicht.

Hi all,

Yesterday we (me and 1900 other christians all over Europe) went out in Santa-Claus costumes, to just, you know, talk about god and the sense of christmas. In the costumes it is ways easier to talk to other about faith, but it was very disappointing to see, that a very huge amount of people really (and I mean it) does not even know, what the sense of Christmas is. I often saw in TV-surveys, that it is so, but I just could not believe, that so many people don't knoa about the real sense of christmas. But yesterday I experienced it myself and it is very ... sad, to see, that in a christian country like Germany so many people (in our case it was kind of 40 or 50 per cent) don't know about christmas. I you ask them about the sense of christmas they say things like: "Christmas is the time of love and family" or "at christmas you get presents" or "at christmas santa is coming". Most of these people went to school, so i wonder, why they didn't learn about basic-religious stuff like christmas in their religion-lessons. And all this in a Country that pretends to be christian. I think there is a lot to be done, because not only people in poor coutries need to hear about GOD, but also, and this is very sad, people in Germany (and maybe in other western countries that pretend to be christian).
